About By the Bible
By the Bible is a series of free events hosted by the Philadelphia Church of God (PCG). These events give clear, Bible-based answers to life’s biggest questions about faith, family and the future. They also show what living by the Bible looks like in practice.
The Philadelphia Church of God (PCG) is a dedicated spiritual family of called-out Christians striving to fulfill the commission of the church as it is revealed in the Bible.
This commission is two-fold. First, the PCG preaches the gospel of the kingdom of God, including biblical prophecies that warn of end-time events prior to the return of Jesus Christ (Matthew 24:14, Revelation 10:11). Second, the PCG aims to spiritually nourish the members God has now called for future responsibilities under Christ when He returns to rule all nations (John 17).
The PCG’s many and varied endeavors all trace back to this clear, twofold commission.
Incorporated in 1989, the PCG started small—with just 12 members—and has since grown into a worldwide organization with members in 50 countries carrying out a global work.

What can I expect at By the Bible events?
Each event features a lecture plus presentations on the PCG’s projects and work. You’ll have the chance to speak with PCG ministers and, if you’d like, to stay connected through follow-up Bible studies and the PCG’s free programs and publications. All events are completely free and are attended by people interested in living by the Holy Bible.
How long are these events?
Each event lasts about two hours. You are welcome to attend one or all of them.
How much does it cost?
By the Bible events are completely free of cost or obligation. For 35 years, the PCG has never charged or even promoted a “suggested donation” for any of its literature, media, courses or events.
Is there any pressure to join or give money?
No. By the Bible events are simply an invitation to learn. There is no cost, no collection, no pressure and no unsolicited follow-up.
What should I wear or bring?
While there is no mandatory dress code, attendees are invited to dress in smart casual and to bring their Bibles.
Who is this for? Do I need to be religious or know the Bible?
By the Bible events are for anyone interested in learning what the Bible teaches about life’s important questions. You do not need any previous knowledge about the Bible.
Does attending a By the Bible event make me a member of the Philadelphia Church of God?
No, attending a By the Bible event does not make you a member. If you are interested in becoming a member, you can contact a minister.
What makes you different?
Many churches say they live by the Bible. By the Bible events invite you to see for yourself what the Holy Bible says, and what makes the Philadelphia Church of God different—for instance, how it answers questions about God’s law, the Sabbath and Christ’s resurrection from Scripture. Can I bring my family or a friend?
Yes, you can register family members and friends. They will enjoy the experience more if you share with them a little about what to expect.
Is childcare available?
Event staff cannot provide childcare, so please plan accordingly. Children are welcome to attend with you.
Will the event be recorded or streamed if I can’t attend in person?
Occasional recordings may be made available to those who subscribe to the By the Bible e-mail list .
What happens after I register?
You will get a confirmation e-mail with the location and other details, along with reminders closer to the date of the event.
How is my information used?
